Super League throws in opinion on early TFF elections

The Super League Club's Foundation has jumped into the fray with those calling for an emergency Turkish Football Federation (TFF) congress to choose new TFF management.

It was a majority decision, as the Do?an News Agency reported 10 out of 17 clubs Galatasaray, Kayserispor, aykur Rizespor, Ankaraspor, Konyaspor, Erciyes, Antalyaspor, Sivaspor, Vestel Manisaspor and Sakaryaspor voted for the emergency congress.

Gaziantepspor, Bursaspor, Denizlispor, Genlerbirli?i, Ankaragc, Trabzonspor and Be?ikta? wished to wait for the TFF's June budgetary congress.

Fenerbahe, which has not been participating in the foundation's meetings since Galatasaray Chairman zhan Canayd?n was elected president, did not take part in Tuesday's meeting.

"TFF chief Haluk Ulusoy was elected by the congress, and he is a respectful member of the Turkish soccer community," Canayd?n said. "But if we have faith in democracy, we should not hesitate to hold another congress, where the delegates will decide on the new TFF management.

"The Super League Clubs' Foundation decisions are only recommendations; we do not have the right to give the final word."

Ankaragc Chairman Cemal Ayd?n was one of those who believe June should be the time to vote on Ulusoy's future.

"Organizing a congress costs approximately YTL 500,000. Whose money will we spend?" he asked. "Even if State Minister Mehmet Ali ?ahin uses his legal authority to convene a congress, it could not be organized earlier than April. The right thing to do is to hold the elections in June."

Gaziantepspor Chairman ?brahim K?z?l left the meeting early, disgusted by the attitude of his fellow Super league members, and saying they needed to look elsewhere for the problem.

"We come to these meetings and instead of talking about our problems and the solutions to them, we argue about the TFF," he said. "No one does anything to improve Turkish soccer. The foundation prefers to take sides in a fight between ?ahin and Ulusoy. It would make more sense to abolish the foundation if that is the way it will work."
